Grace Stosik, Executive Director, opening the James E. Copping Apartments in June 1953 with 48 units providing affordable housing to the local community. Five years later in March 1958, the Herbert Kurrasch Apartments opened with 24 units. In July 1970, the Riverview Apartments opened with 72 units followed by the Albert C. Fowler Apartments being constructed with 51 units in July 1980. This completed the construction of Public Housing for the Alpena Housing Commission.
Grace Stosik Warn dedicated 44 years of service as Executive Director for the Alpena Housing Commission until her retirement in 1997.
James J. Stosik now serves as Executive Director of the Alpena Housing Commission located at 2340 S. Fourth Avenue, Alpena, MI 49707. The office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday (excluding holidays). This is a federally funded program through HUD (Housing & Urban Development), providing affordable housing to low-income families and individuals at an affordable rate.
